Justice Qazi Faez Isa, a senior puisne judge of the Supreme Court, made a speech during a special national constitutional convention to mark the golden jubilee of the Constitution of Pakistan. During his speech, Justice Isa said that he and the top court of the country stood with the Constitution. Justice Isa stressed the importance of recognizing the Constitution's significance, stating that it is Pakistan's identity, which was unanimously voted on by the elected representatives of the time. He called for embracing the Constitution, as it talks about the people's basic rights, and regretted that it is not taught in schools. Justice Isa also stated that his job and that of politicians and the bureaucracy are to serve the people, with the judiciary making decisions swiftly according to the law and the Constitution, the legislature making laws that are beneficial for the people, and the executive implementing the laws and policies made by the government. The speech was made amid a split within the Supreme Court, which has become apparent in the last few weeks over several hearings conducted on holding elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab. The spokesperson for the NA secretariat later told Dawn.com that all the top court judges were invited for the event, but they neither attended nor gave a reason for it.
Seated on the government bench, Justice Isa emphatically asserted his unwavering allegiance to the Constitution
