The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the postponement of the elections scheduled in Province Punjab. The decision was made due to the worsening security situation in the country and the resulting attacks on forces in various areas.
In a statement issued by the ECP, it was stated that the commission had received requests from several political parties to postpone the elections due to the prevailing situation. After reviewing the situation and consulting with the relevant authorities, the ECP decided to postpone the elections.
The ECP has also announced that a new date for the elections will be announced in due course. The commission has urged all political parties and candidates to cooperate with the ECP and follow its directives regarding the rescheduling of the elections.
The postponement of the elections has been met with mixed reactions from the political parties. While some parties have welcomed the decision, others have criticized it particularly PTI, stating that the postponement will have a negative impact on the democratic process and its against Supreme court of Pakistan's order
It is worth noting that the postponement of elections is not a new phenomenon in Pakistan. In the past, elections have been postponed due to a variety of reasons, including security concerns and natural disasters. However, the postponement of elections due to a the current situations is a first for the country.
